Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity exists to provide families in our community with safe, decent, and affordable housing.
We accomplish this mission through the following programs:
1New Home Construction
FBHFH builds homes in partnership with area churches, corporations, businesses, individuals, and Habitat Clubs in the Fort Bend High Schools. A qualifying family is selected for the home by the Family Selection Committee based on established criteria that does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, or ethnic background. The family must show need, ability to pay a monthly mortgage, and a willingness to partner with FBHFH through sweat equity hours.
2Critical Home Repair Program:
In an effort to affect more families in Fort Bend County, FBHFH launched a Critical Home Repair Program in 2016. This program provides critical home repairs for low-income homeowner occupied homes on a sliding fee scale.
3Disaster Repair Program:
Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity is currently accepting disaster repair applications from homeowners in Fort Bend County in response to Hurricane Beryl.
4Age In Place
Thank you for your interest in Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity’s Age in Place (AIP) program. As an extension to Fort Bend Habitat’s Critical Home Repair Program and with guidance from Habitat International, FBHfH has created an Age In Place (AIP) Program. This program includes handicap accessibility modifications (ramps, grab bars and handrails), fall-risk repairs, and minor exterior damage.
New Home Construction
Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity exists to provide families in our community with safe, decent, and affordable housing.
We do this by accepting applications from families who demonstrate a need for adequate shelter, are willing to contribute at least 200-275 hours of “sweat equity,” and whose annual income is between 50%-80% of the median income for Fort Bend County.
Our structure isn’t like any conventional mortgage. Selected families can purchase a 3-4 bedroom home with low monthly payments, at an annual interest rate of 0%. To do so, applicants must meet certain requirements for eligibility, complete a series of training classes, and hands-on participation in the building of a Habitat home. This makes the process of applying for a Habitat home an unforgettable, gratifying experience – one that impacts the entire community!

The water was so deep, Edna couldn’t walk out and was rescued by volunteers who helped her climb onto an air mattress and get out of her house. She said it was surreal floating over her own yard and the streets she’d driven down thousands of times.
After the water went down and Edna was able to return home and assess the damage, she knew she would not be able to repair her home without help. The water had touched nearly everything and she didn’t know where to begin.
Luckily, Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity and United Way were able to help Edna and her family rebuild their home and their lives. Everything from the sheetrock to the floors, the bathrooms to the garage, was gutted and rebuilt. Edna’s family had to start over with furniture, appliances, and just about everything else. It was a long, hard process, but recently, after months of uncertainty, stress, and hope, Edna and her family were finally able to go home.
"Thank you to all the volunteers for the countless hours they put in to rebuild my house and thank you United Way for helping me out when I most needed it,” Edna said. “I could not have been able to complete my house rebuild without your help!"
