Overview: The Construction Manager is responsible for assisting the FBHFH Construction Team with the overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, and control, while also providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and quality standards. The Construction Manager’s responsibilities span a broad spectrum, covering all the areas of project management, such as Project Planning, Cost Management, Time Management, Quality Management, Subcontract Administration, and Safety Management, in conjunction with the Project (House) Lead and the Construction Committee.
Roles:
- Assist the Construction Team in charting out the project objectives and plans.
- Bring about optimum utilization of resources (labor, materials and equipment, and ensuring their procurement at most cost-effective terms).
- Development of effective communications with House Leads and the affiliate team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the House Lead with new house construction and Critical Home Repair projects from start to finish.
- Working with the Construction Team Quartermaster, ensure required materials are on-site when needed.
- Working with the Project (House) Lead, ensure all necessary tools are on-site when needed.
- Perform a role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed.
- Manage the subcontractors and vendors to ensure the build schedule is on task and goals are met.
- Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking expenses, and minimizing exposure and risk in the project alongside the affiliate team.
- Devise Critical Home Repair project work plans and make revisions as and when need arises, in conjunction with the Project Lead.
- Communicate effectively with the subcontractors responsible for completing various phases of the project.
- Assist in coordinating the efforts of all parties involved in the project, which include the construction leads and supervisors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Monitor the progress of the construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular status meetings with the construction team and affiliate.
- Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards.
- Continuous inspection of construction sites for safety and security.
- Ensure project documents are complete.
- Work with inspectors and clearly inform Project (House) Lead and subcontractors of any revisions required to gain passage of inspections.
- Work with inspectors to review the completed project prepared by the team before passing onto owner.

Qualifications:
The Construction Manager must possess an ability to plan and organize a team effort, strong communication skills, effective time management, and a capacity to handle pressure. The Construction Manager must also demonstrate good customer service, an ability to build goodwill in the community, be trustworthy and honest, respectful, flexible, and demonstrate sound work ethics.
Three to five years of project management experience is preferred. Bachelor Degree in a related field is an added advantage.
